Located amongst the Bastide Towns of the southern Dordogne, Lacanaud is the gateway to France’s finest countryside and rural charm.
The property itself is surrounded by fields of sunflowers, vines, woods, meadows, woods and streams – a haven for wildlife including all manner of birds, deer, and wild boar for those with a keen eye around dawn and dusk.
Eymet – our local medieval town
We are a 45 min walk or 15 min bike ride into the hugely popular medieval bastide town of Eymet, complete with stone-cobbled streets, weekly market, and a packed programme of fetes and festivals throughout the year.
The Dordogne Valley
We are only 30 mins from Europe’s cleanest river – the stunning Dordogne that is not only beautiful, but offers the “must-do” of a long canoe ride. It meanders through an area steeped in history – where Cro-Magnon man first settled in Europe, Mary Magdelein was reputed to have settled having fled Israel, and where the Hundred Years War was fought.
